Suspected Cargo Thieves in Memphis
The Memphis Cargo Task Force conducted an interview with three Cubans suspects, all from Miami, Florida who are suspected of casing local truck stops and distribution hubs. All three suspects possess Florida Commercial Driver’s License, have previous histories of cargo theft and had binoculars, map books and laptops with them. It was determined that the three individuals were also staying at a hotel near a truck stop and distribution hub in Memphis.
The police are urging carriers and shippers to be on the lookout for a yellow Freightliner sleeper cab bearing a Missouri license plate 88A-POD, and a blue Nissan Rogue (this is a rental) with Georgia plates BWD-5730. These vehicles are suspected of being used by the group to locate and then steal unattended tractors and/or trailers.
The three suspects were last known to be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee and then onto Miami, Florida, staying at motels located near truck stops and Distribution Centers. The three may be part of a larger syndicate traveling the mid-south region casing truck stops and drop yards.
